Mission: Flight Of The Valkyries
Location: Starfighter Lounge
Timeline: March 13th, 2397

You are invited to attend the wedding ceremony of Ensign Lynette Bishop and Chief Petty Officer Yoshika Miyafuji, on 13th March 2397 at 10:00. The ceremony will be held in the Starfighters Pilots lounge, with a meal and drinks to follow. Dress uniform or formal wear is required. Please RSVP if you can attend.

[Pilots Lounge]

The Pilots lounge had been quickly decorated, mainly because once Fubuki had found out about the wedding from Lynette, she had set the entire Starfighter corps on the task of making the room special. White banners now hung from the ceiling and along the windows. Flowers also decorated the room, and it was now set out in two sections.

A temporary barrier wall now seperated the large space. On one side, lines of chairs with a central aisle had been set out. A podium sat at the front, backdropped by one of the lounges large windows into space. On the other side the lounge's tables had been pushed together and now sported white tablecloths, fine china and silverware. A 'top table' had also been assembled with the backdrop of space behind them similar to the main podium in the other section.

Directly through the door, on the corner of the main bar were trays of synthehol 'summer refreshers', which comprised of different fruit cocktails and mixed drinks for the guests to enjoy before the ceremony. Crewmen whom had been asked to assist in the general waiting and hosting of the event were also in attendance, making sure everything was perfect for the guests and the happy couple. Even though this was a 'last minute' event, they had somehow pulled it off and made it seem like it had taken months to plan.

"Are you sure we're even allowed to be holding a function like this, Fraulein?" Hanna inquired as she finished setting up the beverage assortment. "What with wartime rationing as it is, this seems a little... improvident?"

"Why of course we are!" Fubuki replied simply. "If anything, it'll be a good reminder of how things should be normally."

Hanna stared at her blankly. "...It's only been two months."

"Just roll with it, Hanna," Nozomi assured her. "If Captain Aisaka's letting us drink synthenol at her expense, who are we to say no?"

"You do know its replicated... right?" Fubuki replied.

Hanna shook her head. "Even if that were the case, Fraulein, I have some doubts as to whether or not this is an economic usage of our resources..."

"Say. Chikura," Nozomi asked, shifting her attentionover to Shizuru. "You drink, by any chance?"

"I've been known to." Shizuru said as she tugged at the collar of her dress uniform. "Do they design these things to always be so uncomfortable? Is that the requirement of being 'smart'?"

Nozomi chuckled. "I guess you could say that these new dress uniforms are a lot more... structured than the ones they replaced..."

She quickly changed the subject. "...But whatever the case, what's say you go and help yourself to some synthenol before our guests arrive? Given it's been two whole months since rationing went into effect, I reckon its going to be something of a madhouse in the next few minutes..."

Hanna rolled her eyes. "Sure, because I haven't made enough drinks already..."

"Go easy on it," Fubuki called up from behind the bar. "Even though it doesn't have the same effects as real alcohol, you still need to be careful." she added with a smile.

Vyse and Aika had finished their own bit of preparation and showed up in the lounge, in their dress uniforms, each with a bowl of little handheld devices to be handed out. He had volunteered to prepare messless party poppers. Flick a switch and streamers fly out, but still attached to the popper for easy collection. No mess. Like using birdseed at an outdoor venue but even easier. Aika helped him, and they finished in no time.

He waved to Fubuki. “Where do you want these, babe?”

Fubuki blushed at being called 'babe' by Vyse. Their relationship was still fairly new news to the rest of the crew. "Erm, by the door maybe? For when they do the whole 'walking out' thing?"

No sooner did the clock strike 0950 did members of the junior staff begin to turn out in droves. True to Nozomi's predictions, the prospect of being served synthehol for the first time in two months- and quite possibly the last in who knew how long- was perhaps a bigger draw to them than the wedding itself, as pretty much all of them immediately queued up in front of the bar for the once-commodity that had, in times of dire warfare, become an elusive luxury. The poor volunteers that had been hired to staff the bar were virtually beside themselves in disbelief.

"At this rate, we're going to run out of synthehol before the fricken' ceremony even begins..." Nozomi sighed.

"You have no idea." Grace said from behind the bar, being one of the volunteers for that, both hands busy as she kept setting up glasses and pouring the synthehol. Even she was in dress uniform, because she didn't think she'd have any additional time to change before the wedding itself, "If we last another thirty minutes, Ah'll be surprised, ma'am."

Talia was feeling tired, but she wasn’t going to let that spoil attending a gathering for a wedding. She was holding onto Thomas’ arm as they walked in, newborn son Wyatt cradled in her other arm.

Looking the room over, he smiled as they walked across the floor..

"Commanders Johnson and Johnson," Nozomi greeted with a smile and a nod. "And how's your little bundle of joy doing?"

“He’s very well, thank you” Talia smiled warmly.

"Still getting used to the newborn." Thomas replied. "Thankfully, with Nezuko, and everyone else offering their help. Its been not as complicated as we thought."

"Any special accommodations we can get for you?" Nozomi offered. "Aisle seating, a designated quiet area, changing facilities, baby formula on request... any of that?"

"We may need a changing area shortly." Thomas agreed. "He just fed."

"But of course," Nozomi nodded. "Ensign Kobayashi and I will see about setting up some privacy screens for you."

And with that, she motioned for (a rather annoyed-looking) Sora to help her with a set of modular screens that she had set up in the corner.

Teneca didn't know the happy couple, but as a member of the Senior Staff, she thought it only right for to make an appearance. Besides she loved weddings. She wore her Dress Uniform. Why did they have to make them so
uncomfortable?
She asked herself.

Nezuko had not gotten to know the couple either but appreciated the opportunity to celebrate with and support her crewmates. She waved to Talia and Thomas but then found some other friends to socialize with until the ceremony started.

Thomas spotted Nezuko waved back, thinking about their last wedding they attended, that night the three of them became much closer, and she became a part of them. Watching her mingle with others, he smiled and turned back towards Wyatt and Talia.

Talia had given Nezuko a smile and wave as well, giving Thomas a warm smile as he turned back to her.

Devon Hunt arrived with both his children in tow. With everything that had taken place, he felt that it would be good to allow them witness something as normal and special as a wedding. Not everything had to be scary and involve death. Finding a seat, the three of them sat down.

The irony of this all wasn't exactly lost on Lieutenant Inoue as she arrived at the lounge with Lieutenants Hatanaka and Nakahara in tow; considering that Captain Aisaka had been making a point that the upcoming operation in the Atarilla System was of critical importance, it seemed like a somewhat... contradictory statement to be hosting a wedding for two low-ranking crew members, when Lieutenant Inoue felt the time could be better utilized planning for the assault. Nonetheless, as she was filling in in Commander Nishikigi's absence, she figured it would be somewhat appropriate to be making a showing if it was what Captain Aisaka desired.

Eventually, Amu entered the room accompanied by Captain Aisaka and Commander Takasu. Amu had managed to find a babysitter for Tadase, and was in conversation with Taiga as they entered.

Upon spotting the Captain, Fubuki made her way over towards her. "Captain."

"Ah hello Lieutenant. In gather everyone is here and we're ready?" Taiga asked as she leant against one of the nearby chairs form support.

"Yes Captain. I believe we're all ready to go." Fubuki replied. She tapped her comm badge. "Snowflake to Bishop and Miyafuji. I gather that you two are ready?"

There was a moments pause, before Yoshika'a voice spoke first. "Yeah... I am..."

"Oh my God oh my God this is actually happening, isn't it..." Lynette could be heard despairing in the background.

Fubuki looked back at Taiga and then proceeded to escort the captain towards the small podium that had been set up at the end of the main aisle.

Taiga stood behind the podium and cleared her throat. "Ladies and Gentlemen. Please, may I ask you take your seats."

At once, the commotion around the drinks table ceased and the junior officers, beverages still in hand, filed over to the nearby seating area and took their seats.

Thomas led Talia over to their seats and sat down, waiting for the start.

"That was... surprisingly easier than I thought it was going to be," Nozomi remarked, glancing over at Shizuru.

Once everyone had sat down. Soft music started playing. The doors of the lounge opened and hand in hand, both Yoshika and Lynette slowly walked together down the center aisle. They both wore their Starfleet dress uniforms. In her hair, Yoshika had a pink Cherry Blossom flower a symbol of her Japanese heritage whilst Lynette had a beautiful Red Rose of England.

Everyone once again rose to their feet.

They were followed by Fubuki, who carried a small navy blue pillow where two golden rings rested. Slowly they approached coming to a stand infront of the podium.

The music stopped and Taiga looked at the happy couple. "You may be seated."

After the room had retained their seats, Taiga began. "Ever since the days of the ancient Earth sailing ships. Captains have enjoyed one of the biggest honours. That honour us to officially join two together in matromony. Today, that honour has been passed down to Starship Caotains. So, as the Captain of this ship, it is I have the honour and delight and the power of The United Federation of Planets to join these two Starfleet Officers in the journey of marriage."

She looked over at Miyafuji first then to Lynette. "Chief Petty Officer First Class Yoshika Miyafuji and Ensign Lynette Bishop. You are here before this ships crew, friends and the Tokyo family to confirm your love for each other and to vow to walk the same path together in marriage."

Taiga then looked at the gathered guests. "I have to ask that if anyone here has any valid reasin why these two should not be married in matromony. I would ask them to speak now."

"Ok," Taiga said. She turned to look at Lynette. "Ensign Lynette Bishop. Do you take Petty Officer First Class Yoshika Miyafuji to be your wife? Do you promise to love her, to protect her and be by her side. In sickness and health and until death due you part?"

"I-I..." Lynette was practically trembling with equal bits excitement and trepidation. Not in her wildest dreams did she imagine she'd make it this far, especially before she was 25; a part of her was concerned that this was all moving too fast, and that the love- genuine love- that she felt for Yoshika was all just in the heat of the moment- but one glance back into those soft, puppy-dog eyes was enough to reel her back to reality, and remind her that she had nothing to fear- this really WAS a lifetime commitment, and Lynette couldn't think of a better person to be spending it with.

"...I do."

"Petty Officer First Class Yoshika Miyafuji. Do you take Ensign Lynetter Bishop to be your wife? Do you promise to love her, to protect her and be by her side. In sickness and health and until death due you part?

Yoshika nodded, turned to look at Lynette with a smile. Slight redness coming to her cheeks. "Yes, I do."

"Then, in the power invested in my by The United Federation of Planets and in front of all those present. I hereby pronounce that you are now officially married." Taiga said with a smile. She looked at Miyafuji, and then to what was now, officially, the other Miyafuji. "Go on you two, you know what comes next..."

Yoshika wasted no time, she grabbed Lynette and pulled her in. Pulling her close, their lips bet as Yoshika kissed her, sealing their vows and officially becoming one.

The attendees burst into rapturous applause, with a certain meddlesome violette making her ovation the loudest and most prominent of those present.

Together they walked arm in arm down the aisle towards the doors. As they walked together confetti was thrown into the air, showering them and littering like a blanket across the deck. Yoshika looked at Lynette as they walked. "We did it Lyn. We did it " she said in a hushed voice as she tightened her grip.

Lynette was practically on cloud nine- it was almost as if there had been a weight lifted off her shoulders, and all those nagging insecurities were suddenly irrelevant. She knew that the feeling wouldn't last forever, and sooner rather than later she was going to be coming down from this high and back to her worrisome self. But in this moment of immeasurable bliss, she wanted to relish in that feeling of invincibility for just a little while longer.

"We're really married now," she giggled as she leaned over and nestled her head on Yoshika's. "Oh, my God... we're going to need to thank Nozomi big time for this..."

"You're all mine now," Yoshika smirked back. "And I'm all yours."
